Wow! We are total Okies, aren’t we? Love the view of Lake Hefner – isn’t that where the Red Rock Canyon burned earlier this week? The horse is beautiful! Had one on my parents place for years…..mom make the best homemade ice cream in the world! sun tea rocks and cousins are the best to share secrets with – at least they were when I was a kid. LOVE the pix!!!
I think you’re right about Red Rock Canyon – I think it’s right there on Lake Hefner.
Horses, homemade ice cream, sun tea and cousins are what spell HOLIDAYS to my family. It sounds like it does for your family, too! 🙂
When I was taking photos of Dad’s horse, Dad was telling me about putting a saddle on the horse/colt for the first time and letting him walk around the circle pen with it on – and how he reacted to it. He was laughing as he told me about it – I cannot look at the photos without hearing my dad’s voice again. 🙂
When I saw that Mom had put the sun tea in the wagon, I knew I had to get a photo of it – it just felt like home to me. Not so much home where I live now. It was more a flood of memories, of things like picking blackberries, spinning honey from the honeycombs with my paternal grandpa, sweet tea, warm afternoons, tire swings and spitting watermelon seeds.
I hope you have a great weekend!
I used to pick blackberries with my nana – chiggers! Those were the worst but I got them every time I pcked!
