When I email back & forth with friends, I think nothing of starting an email like a conversation, no salutation, no closing line, just a conversation – but that’s with friends. In a business setting, I guess I’m just old-fashioned. I cannot imagine using chatspeak when emailing a business associate.
Here’s an example of the casual business emails that drive me nuts.
From: {name}
To: {name}
Sent: Thu Nov 09, 2006
Subject: 401K question
Hi {name},
Do we have the option of signing up for the Roth 401K instead of the
traditional 401K? If it’s an option for us, I’d like information
regarding the plan.

I totally agree. Business is business. I’m a spell check freak – even more so when dealing with professional situations.
I would not trust them with my money. Ever.
I couldn’t agree with you more! In business, one should be professional. Besides, especially with corporate email, you never know who will ultimately read it.
I also agree…unless you have such a friendly workplace that everyone thinks everyone’s friends…? Probably not!
